Adding on to an existing home is one of those projects that looks simple on paper but gets complicated fast. You're tying new construction into an existing structure - matching rooflines, getting the framing square, pouring a slab that integrates cleanly with what's already there. It has to be done right from the start, or everything downstream gets harder.
Here's where we're at on the Brantzeg addition. We started with groundwork - site prep, slab pour, and getting the foundation right before a single wall went up. From there, the framing came together quickly. The wall framing and roof structure are all coming in clean, and the interior is really starting to take shape.
What you're looking at inside is a well-organized framing layout - stud walls running true and plumb, rafters landing consistently across the span. The open concrete floor gives you a real sense of just how much usable space this addition is creating. It's a substantial footprint, and it connects directly back into the existing home.
The exterior is wrapped and sheathed, with OSB panels locked in tight across the wall assembly. The roof ties into the existing structure without any awkward transitions - that's the kind of detail that matters when you're building an addition. It has to look like it belongs there, not like it was bolted on.
We'll keep posting updates as this one moves forward. There's still plenty of work ahead - insulation, drywall, finishes - but the bones are solid and the project is moving on schedule.
